Lumberjack Jack

This game was a super fun project that I had the opportunity to work with some amazing people for my senior project at the University. This is the result of our prototype which took us about 2 weeks to complete. Unfortunately for now this project is paused as the team went separate ways to other projects, but the result is amazing.
My role in this job was to be a producer for the team, but as we only had seven people working and I am a developer first. I ended up helping in any way I could. I modeled/texture and designed Jack’s weapon and one of the enemy Trees. I worked with the team to come up with the major mechanics in the game, and finally, I mixed the sound design for the prototype. As I producer I organized team meetings, and did my best to communicate with every team member.

Here is a summary of everything that I did in this project.

Design

Production

I learned important lessons in this project, besides it was never finished I got the opportunity to present my first sprint reviews and I got to pitch this game twice. In my development, as a producer, this game was probably one of the most important so far. It was in here that I learned about finding the fun, finding the unique selling point of the game, and most important I got to make presentations both to pitch for my classmates and the professor and to pitch for an industry board with people that work in triple-A studios. It was also the biggest project I had worked on during that time, and I got to manage a group of 10 people each from different backgrounds and expertise. The knowledge I acquire from this project was very important to help define me as a producer today.
